Foundry Supervisor Retires 29-01-09

Roy Hickman retired from Vanguard on January 29th 2009 after twenty six years of service. Roy, who became a founder member of Vanguard Foundry Ltd following the closure of GKN Shotton Ltd in 1983, has worked tirelessly to help Vanguard achieve its current success. Seen here being presented with a watch from Brian Higgins, we wish Roy a long and very happy retirement.

New Auto Fettler installed 6-06-08

Vanguard is pleased to announce the installation and commissioning of a Koyama F 400 auto fettler. This installation represents a further investment in the business of over 100k. This investment will allow us to finish, to a consistent standard the increasing volume of castings that we are being asked to produce by our new and existing customers.

Vanguard celebrates 25 years in business (1) 5-06-08

On Saturday 5-06-08 the works and staff got together at Stourbridge Town Hall to celebrate the company's silver anniversary. 140 employees and partners were entertained with a disco and karaoke. Following a speech from our Chairman Brian Higgins, raffle prizes, donated by suppliers Jays Engineering, Smestow Patterns and John Winter were picked out by Brian.

The entertainment continued after the break with local band 'The Blues Brothers' on stage for 90 minutes. The evening rounded off with 'well lubricated karaoke' showing off our employees hidden talents.

Vanguard celebrates 25 years in business (2) 17-05-08

As part of Vanguard's 25th celebrations all employees who had been with the company since its inception were invited to the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers Banquet. This was a particularly appropriate event to attend, as during 2007 -2008 Vanguard's Managing Director John Willetts had been the branch president and as such was presiding over the event. Also on the top table were Chris Mintern Vanguard's Operations Director who will be ICME Junior Vice President 2008 - 2009 and Brian Higgins Vanguards Chairman who, as John's principal guest proposed the toast to the members of the ICME.
